opportunity to reflect on the growing need to understand and face a
challenge that is affecting many families. The Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention’s (CDC) most recent data shows that 1 in 110
children have an autism spectrum disorder.

teacher in Japan, began developing materials to help his
second-grade son, who was struggling in math. As an educator, Kumon
realized that a strong foundation in the basics was necessary for

Red Cross Celebrates True Heroes

x-ray vision or fly like a bird to be a super hero. Heroes come in
all shapes and sizes. You can never be too young or too old but one
thing they all have in common is that they all are super. The
American Red Cross of South Central CT will honor their picks for
the ninth annual Heroes of South Central CT Awards with a breakfast
on Wednesday, March 25 at 7:30 a.m. at the Omni New Haven Hotel.
